I have an idea for a skin care range, Now what?

Your clinic is humming, the clients are raving fans and you have been playing with the idea of formulating your own products. Question is, where do you even begin? It can be an overwhelming and oftentimes surprising journey to launch a line of skincare. There is a lot of moving parts and new terminology to wrap your head around. Here's some things I recommend you get crystal clear on to approach formulation like a pro!


What's you niche?

In a busy market place it can be easy to get lost. Your brand needs to land in the right hands. Finding your thing and building around that will give you much more confidence to know what products fit and what fall flat.


What's your budget?

How much are you prepared to throw at this venture? Set realistic expectations for what you can spend and stick to that. Its easy to get exited about all the fun SKUs you can finally bring to life but if it dries up your cash flow, it wont feel as fun anymore.


Are you aware of your compliance obligations?

Compliance can be confusing and often where a lot of brands fall short. While there is no legal requirements to conduct testing per se, it is definitely assumed as standard. Its your responsibility as a brand to ensure your products are safe, effective and you are selling what is on the label.


Do your research

Identify some brands that are smashing it and ask yourself what do you love about that brand. Pick some of your favourite products too and start taking notes on what you love and what you dont
